Well OfCom are planning to clear one of the digital TV multiplexes sometime next year, which would allow for some HD channels: four in total initially, likely to be BBC HD, ITV HD, Channel 4 HD and a proposed Channel 5 HD.

So it *is* coming, but you'll have to wait at least another year...
